Duo charged after bear spray incident in Saskatoon

Two women were arrested without further incident, and upon further investigation, two canisters of bear spray were located inside the vehicle.

SASKATOON - Two women are facing weapons charges following a bear spray complaint early Sunday morning in Saskatoon.

At approximately 12:50 a.m. on Oct. 20, police were called to a business in the 60 block of 24th Street East for a report of bear spray being discharged. Initial information stated the suspects had fled the scene.

Upon arrival, officers located several people who were exposed to the effects of bear spray.

Shortly after, the suspect vehicle was located, and a high-risk traffic stop was conducted at 20th Street and 4th Avenue. Two women were arrested without further incident. Upon further investigation, two canisters of bear spray were located inside the vehicle.

As a result, a 23-year-old woman and a 24-year-old woman are facing charges relating to mischief over $5,000 and possession of a weapon.
