MELFORT — The 2019 graduating class of Melfort and Unit Comprehensive Collegiate have so much potential, said its valedictorian.

“Everybody is so multi-talented and there are different sections of the class that are so talented at different things,” said Graydon Eskowich.

“If we look in 10 years’ time or 20 years’ time, every person is going to have accomplished something really special, whatever that may be.”

Eskowich’s favorite memory with the graduating class was the 12 Days of Christmas competition. Each class competes in different Christmas-themed dress up days and activities.

“Our class was the winner again this year and it was such a fun time,” Eskowich said. “We really tried to push through and do our best.”

Another highlight for him was the class coming together to support the senior girls’ basketball team in the provincial Hoopla tournament.

“They made it to the final game and all of us were just in the bleachers cheering them on, and that was probably one of my favorite moments too because it showed how connected everybody is and we were just all there supporting them.”

Estowich believes his class’ greatest challenge was the final exams for Grade 12.

“Also it’s a really stressful time for applying for university and all that. I think we all made it through fine, but probably the greatest challenge was that.”

The 18-year-old plans to go to Slovakia for a year as part of a Rotary Youth Exchange.
