A 53-year old Lloydminster man is dead following a head-on collision just north of Lloydminster.
The collision happened on Highway 17, about two kilometers north of Lloydminster, and involved a northbound pickup truck and a southbound semi. The incident took place the morning of Dec. 27.
According to Maidstone RCMP, the driver of the pickup truck was pronounced dead at the scene. The family of the victim was notified and the name will not be released.
Police also say the two occupants of the semi suffered minor injuries.
Traffic was closed on the portion of Highway 17 between the 502 and 504 township roads around the accident site while the investigation took place. According to the RCMP the office of the coroner was on the scene along with an RCMP collision reconstructionist.
Traffic was diverted around the crash site for several hours, but reopened around 6 p.m. after the investigation wrapped up.
