Fatal collision near Wolseley leaves one man dead

Police determined a semi-trailer struck a second semi-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the highway.

WOLSELEY - Police are investigating a fatal collision that left one man dead near Wolseley, Sask.

On Aug. 5, at approximately 7:40 a.m., Indian Head RCMP received a report of a collision on Highway 1.

Officers immediately responded. After investigating, police determined a semi-trailer struck a second semi-trailer that was parked on the shoulder of the highway.

There were no occupants in the parked semi. There were two occupants in the other semi.

The passenger was declared deceased by EMS at the scene. He has been identified as a 35-year-old man from Calgary. His family has been notified.

The male driver was taken to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. 

Highway 1 was closed to traffic during the initial investigation but has since re-opened.

Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP and Broadview Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan assisted at the scene.

Indian Head RCMP continue to investigate with assistance from a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist.
