Property owners will see some small fee increases this year, as the Town of Battleford passed a bylaw concerning tax certificates, searches and other administrative services.

Bylaw No. 3/2011 was largely a housekeeping matter, as many of the fees, which are exempt from GST, remained unchanged.

The fee for a tax certificate increased from $20 to $25, while there was no change for the $10 fee for a tax search.

A $10 fee will also be collected for copies of assessments provided to third parties.

If a property owner comes to the town office to pick up their assessment, there is no charge, but if it is faxed, there is a fee of $10.

The fee for returned cheques increased from $15 to $20. Previously, NSF fees were a policy, not a bylaw, but this year they are being included in the bylaw.

First, second and third readings were given to the bylaw at the regular town council meeting, Jan. 10, and came into effect at that time.
