Blair Industrial held its fifth annual pig roast Aug. 11 with over 200 individuals gathered at the Highway 40 East location to enjoy an afternoon of musical entertainment, demonstrations, food, refreshments and visiting.

Air Liquide representative Bart Mclean was in attendance to address any inquiries regarding the company's product line.

The 450-pound pig was placed in the rotisserie style barbecue and cooked for 20 hours. The barbecue was custom designed and manufactured by Blair Sorenson.

The deliciously tender meat was well complemented by baked potatoes - which were cooked in the top compartment of the barbecue - salads, vegetables and dessert.

Musical entertainment was provided by The Happy Wanderers consisting of Emil Lamontagne, Gilles Francoeur, Jim Peake and Ray Isbister.

Local auctioneer John Priestley volunteered his auctioneering skills to sell donations of: a $500 Flaman equipment rental voucher, purchased by Kevin Horner for $325; five hours of grader service, purchased by Wayne Reiter for $525; eight hours of welding service, purchased by Burton Aggregate for $425; and five hours of mobile welding service, purchased by John Reban for $310. The 50/50 winner of $350 was Walter Perehudoff. Proceeds of the auction combined with the 50/50 proceeds totalled $1,935 and will be presented to the Blaine Lake Composite School industrial arts/welding program.

Besides local musical entertainment, there was an animal petting area with goats and sheep provided by Richard and Sandra Yasieniuk and family, and a SaskPower demonstration on high voltage power lines.

The Blaine Lake volunteer fire department achieved a fundraising total of $800 for their efforts at the refreshment table.

The event was successful due to the combined efforts of the volunteers and guests.
