The City of North Battleford is now under a fire ban due to dry conditions and high winds.
North Battleford Fire Chief Lindsay Holm said in a news release that the ban “is precautionary during these dry conditions and will remain in effect until conditions improve.”
It means controlled burning and any kind of burning outside of an approved fire pit is prohibited until further notice. No new fire pit permit applications will be inspected until social distancing requirements due of COVID-19 are lifted. Residents are encouraged to restrain from applying for a fire pit permit until then.
Open-air burning (burning outside of an approved fire pit) is prohibited until further notice; residents are urged to exercise extreme caution operating your approved fire pit, including:
Maintain close supervision of the fire
Have an adequate supply of water available to extinguish or control the fire
Properly extinguish the fire after use
Pay close attention to wind conditions and potential spark hazards
