Recent rain has resulted in the lifting of a fire ban for the Town of Battleford and the Rural Municipality of Battle River.
Battleford Deputy Fire Chief Geoff Thompson confirmed with the News-Optimist that the ban has been lifted, due to the favourable conditions Sunday and Monday.
Thompson further expressed a “thank you to the residents for their co-operation” during the fire ban, which he said was instrumental in preventing fires. He also said they would keep monitoring moisture levels, but for now, they have enough moisture to lift the ban.
A fire ban had also been effect in the RM of North Battleford, whose fire department also confirmed Tuesday a lifting of that ban.
As of Tuesday afternoon there had been no official announcement from the City of North Battleford regarding the fire ban in the city.
