The Battlefords Agricultural Society board of directors and staff have announced, “It is with extreme sadness that Battlefords Agricultural Society Inc. announces the cancellation of our 134th Annual Northwest Territorial Days Parade and Exhibition scheduled for Aug. 14-17, 2020. We have been running this event since 1885 with the exception of one year that we were forced to cancel because of the Louis Riel rebellion.”
The Ag Society announced Thursday all other scheduled summer events have also been cancelled including the Childrens Festival, 4-H Regional Show and Sale, Community Garage Sale and all grounds rentals. It is in the best interest of staff, volunteers and the public in general to cancel all summer events and activities due to the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, stated the announcement.
“These events are the heart and soul of our community and not being able to go ahead with them this year is very difficult. As a non-profit we rely on all these events and rentals for sustainability. This is also very detrimental to many other service clubs and non profit institutions in the Battlefords and surrounding areas.”
The society says it will continue to follow the Re-open Saskatchewan plan with social distancing and disinfecting requirements in place.
“Battlefords Ag Society would like to sincerely thank all of you, our volunteers, staff, sponsors and the general public for your continued support throughout the years and we look forward to working with each and every one of you in the near future,” the announcement stated.
