Speakers Michael David Lorsch and Tania Cheng of the organization Free the Children spoke to St. Vital students Monday morning.

They were there as part of the new "Food for All" speaking tour taking place in the province, sponsored by PotashCorp.

The speakers, both from the organization founded by Craig Kielberger in the mid 1990s, spoke about the issues of hunger and famine affecting developing countries. The tour's message was to promote "agriculture and food security," an initiative backed by PotashCorp that is being touted as a fifth pillar in Feed the Children's "Adopt a Village" efforts.

According to the Feed the Children website, this pillar will focus on improving such things as farming techniques and water management in developing countries, among others. Several more presentations featuring the two speakers are scheduled for schools in the area. One of them was set for Wednesday morning at Battleford Central School with a keynote presentation before 200 students, followed by a workshop with 25 students later that day.
