CARROT RIVER VALLEY — Fred Bradshaw said he felt “relieved” after winning the Carrot River Valley provincial riding for the Saskatchewan Party.
“When you put your name forward you always have doubts, it’s never a sure thing and I was worried all the way through, especially this past week, I was worried,” Bradshaw said, adding that he was thankful his supporters came through.
Bradshaw won with the majority of votes, followed by Rod McCorriston from the Saskatchewan New Democratic Party (NDP).
“I have to thank Rod McCorriston for putting his name forward to, it’s always a challenge to do something like that. It was a very clean campaign, there was nothing out of the ordinary between the campaign— there was no scrapping or fighting or anything like that.”
Bradshaw was first elected in 2007, before being reelected in 2011 and 2016.
He watched the results come in on Oct. 26 at the Carrot River curling rink with his wife and a small gathering of his campaign managers.
“It’s different than the other ones where you get a whole crew together and watch the results come in, but this year it was different all the way through,” Bradshaw said. “We only had 12 people so everyone could stay apart
During the election, he stated that if reelected he would follow the Saskatchewan Party’s 10-year plan to move the province forward, with a specific focus on businesses and the budget.
“It’s been an honour and a privilege to serve this constituency in the past and I hope I can do a good job here in the next four years.”
