A 13-year-old girl charged with assaulting two young children in a wooded area in La Ronge was given 18 months probation.

LA RONGE - A 13-year-old girl who assaulted two young children in a wooded area in La Ronge was given 18 months probation.

The young offender – who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act – was originally charged with aggravated assault. On Jan. 20 she pleaded guilty in La Ronge Provincial Court to the lesser charge of assault causing bodily harm.

The La Ronge RCMP General Investigation Section arrested her on June 2, 2021. Police said the attack, which occurred in a wooded area near the 400 block of Bells Point Road on May 29, wasn't random.
