NIPAWIN — Do what brings you joy, the valedictorian of LP Miller Comprehensive School’s graduating class of 2019 told his classmates.
“Stuff’s not worth doing if you’re not having fun, and stay connected to each other,” said Parker Sturby. “Don’t lose contact with all your friends from high school.”
Sturby transferred to the school for the beginning of Grade 11. He described his class as friendly.
“I came from a school with 60 people, so I thought when you would get here everyone would be in their own groups or whatever, but for the most part everyone welcomed me,” Sturby said. “Everyone gets along. Everyone hangs out after school, at school, at lunch. Everyone is just good friends there, there for each other all the time.”
The 17-year-old will be going to the University of Saskatchewan for agriculture.
Nicole Rowlett was the salutatorian for the school.
Her memories from her class go back to middle school.
“I remember we were in middle school, we were a rowdy bunch,” Rowlett said, laughing. “We had some really good times playing grounders and stuff like that.”
She used the opportunity to congratulate her fellow graduates.
“Congratulations, we finally did it. I know everyone is going to have such a bright future, and I’m excited to see it happen.”
The 17-year-old will be going to Saskatoon for business at Saskatchewan Polytechnic.
