Homicide victim remembered as generous, kind

In December 2020, Jacob Sewap was found injured and on Jan. 6, 2021, he died as a result of his injuries.

SANDY BAY – A 54-year-old Sandy Bay man who died after he was assaulted in a residence was remembered Friday as a generous and kind man.

In December 2020, Jacob Sewap was found injured and on Jan. 6, 2021, he died as a result of his injuries.

Sewap’s daughter, Jessica Sewap, said her father was a good person.

“He helped everyone in so many ways,” she told SASKTODAY.ca on Friday. “No matter the weather or matter, if he had his last dime, he would stop and make sure you’re okay before himself.

“I miss him so much,” added Jessica. “He didn’t get to see me graduate Culinary Arts but I know he was with me.”

Prince Albert RCMP General Investigation Section arrested Lenny Sinclair, 25, in Pelican Narrows in October 2021 following a 10-month police investigation and charged him with second-degree murder.

A preliminary hearing for Sinclair was scheduled in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Sept. 27 but didn’t proceed. The matter went straight to Melfort Court of King’s Bench to set a trial date.
