Immigration hurdles continue to be a challenge for North Saskatchewan River Health Holdings in the organization's work to fully staff its clinics.

At a Jan. 16 meeting of the Health Holdings board, members were told Prairie North Health Region continues to assist with working three physicians through the various stages of the immigration and assessment process.

The arrival of one physician by April is contingent on the immigration process continuing smoothly, the board was told.

The other two physicians will be arriving later as they must also complete the Saskatchewan International Physician Practice Assessment that is offered three times a year by the College of Physicians and Surgeons.

Dr. Shoaib has returned from holidays resumed providing clinic services Jan. 9. The clinics continue to be busy with limited services available, Health Holdings reports. Emergency services at Riverside Health Complex in Turtleford continue to be unavailable.

The board's next meeting is Monday, Feb. 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the RM of Mervin Office in Turtleford.
