Twelve teachers from John Paul II Collegiate have been named as the recipients of the McDowell Foundation Award for outstanding contributions to educational research in the province of Saskatchewan.
The annual award is sponsored by the McDowell Foundation. The McDowell Foundation supports research, inquiry and sharing of information that focuses on teaching and learning within the publicly funded preK-12 education system in Saskatchewan.
Nineteen research projects were undertaken and sponsored by the McDowell Foundation during the 2016-17 school year throughout the province. The award recognizes leadership in the educational research community.
The teacher team, through a research grant provided by the McDowell Foundation, participated in an action research project to explore their experience as they adjusted the pace, place, or time of learning in order to support students at John Paul II Collegiate.
The teaching team included: Janet Benoit, Anne Crozier, Frazer Donahue, Cheryl Dunits, Jean Fauchon, Shalen Fox, Shelly Fransoo, Tracie Harty, Carlo Hansen, Nate Jurgens, Ramona Stillar and Roxanne Stynsky.
The results of Pace, Place, Time: Using Flexible Design and Delivery to Support Learners were shared at the Learning From Practice Forum, which took place Feb. 2 in Saskatoon.
Through the development and implementation of flexible design and blended learning options, students are more able to attain the course credits necessary for graduation.
