La Ronge RCMP charge male with attempted murder

HALL LAKE — La Ronge RCMP have charged a man with attempted murder after an assault that occurred just before the year end.

On Dec. 28, 2021 at approximately 12:30 a.m., La Ronge RCMP were dispatched to a report of a serious assault at a residence in Hall Lake.

Investigation has determined that an adult male attended the residence and threatened the occupants, then assaulted an individual inside. That individual was transported to hospital with serious injuries. RCMP do not have an update on their condition.

Quintin Ross, 20, of Lac La Ronge Indian Band, was arrested without incident at the residence. He has now been charged with:

  • 1 count, attempted murder, Section 239(1)(b), Criminal Code
  • 1 count. assault with weapon, Section 267(a), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, assault causing bodily harm, Section 267(b), Criminal Code
  • 2 counts, uttering threats, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code
  • 1 count, carry a weapon for the purpose of committing an offence, Section 88(2), Criminal Code
  • 2 counts, fail to comply with probation order, Section 733.1(1), Criminal Code

He will appear in La Ronge Provincial Court on Jan. 6.
