LLOYDMINSTER – An Onion Lake man arrested after police seized $47,000 in drugs appeared in Lloydminster, Alta., court and Lloydminster, Sask., court for multiple drug and weapons related charges.
Courtlin Littlewolfe, 35, appeared Feb. 1 in a court on the Alberta side of Lloydminster facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, possession of a restricted firearm, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, obstruction of a peace officer, identity fraud, flight from police, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and driving while prohibited.
Littlewolfe isn’t being held in custody on the Alberta charges but he has been remanded on charges on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster and appeared in that court Jan. 24. In Saskatchewan he is charged with two counts of flight from police, two counts of assault of a peace officer, three counts of obstruction of a peace officer, dangerous driving, seven counts of failing to appear in court, six counts of driving while prohibited, two firearm offences, and trafficking drugs.
Littlewolfe was arrested in Onion Lake Cree Nation (OLCN) on Jan. 16, 2021, days after eluding police in Lloydminster. Littlewolfe allegedly fled from RCMP on foot after he lost control of his vehicle on an icy road during a police chase. OLCN borders the provinces of Saskatchewan and Alberta and is located about 50 kilometres north of Lloydminster, which is Canada’s only border city and straddles the two provinces. The RCMP station is on the Alberta side of the city.
The police chase started after a Lloydminster RCMP officer noticed a suspicious vehicle with no license plate in the area of 50 St. and 57 Ave. at about 4 a.m. on Jan. 10, 2021. Police attempted to stop the vehicle but the driver refused to stop and sped away. According to RCMP, the vehicle lost control on an icy road and smashed into a median where it became immobilized. Littlewolfe was allegedly the driver and fled the scene on foot leaving his 20-year-old female passenger behind. She was arrested and charged but all of the charges against her were later dropped.
When police searched the vehicle they found more than $47,000 in drugs, including methamphetamine, cocaine, and heroin. In addition, police found more than $8,000 in Canadian currency, a handgun, ammunition, a knife, and red paisley bandanas generally worn by Westside Outlaws street gang based out of OLCN.
The charges against Littlewolfe haven’t been proven in court.
He has a bail hearing in Lloydminster Sask., circuit court on Feb. 7 and appears again in Lloydminster Alta., provincial court on Feb. 22.
