To celebrate a 90th birthday is a privilege, and not only was the celebrant, Mary Woytiuk, honoured but so were the many family and friends in attendance who gathered to witness the momentous occasion.
The birthday celebration was held in the common area of the Blaine Haven Lodge Aug. 11. Barb Woytiuk hosted the program and introduced great-granddaughter Chloe Woytiuk who sang solo, then was accompanied by her mother Diana for a duet.
Greetings were brought by Mayor Andy Ciona who also led the guests in singing the traditional Mhohia Lita, God grant you many years. Eleanor expressed her gratitude to everyone for attending and commented that Mary is already planning her 100th birthday celebration. She concluded by saying, "We all love you."
Local storeowner, Jason Lee, played numerous musical selections on his accordion.
The afternoon social continued with lunch and fellowship.
