Love played host to gospel music once again as they hosted their annual Love Gospel Jamboree.

The July 7-9 festival featured a number of musicians from all across North America including Country Cousins from Battleford, Jesus Our Victory from Saskatoon, Larry Krause from Paddockwood, Back Forty from Osler, BJ and Friends from Waldheim, Wings of Freedom from Humboldt, and Master’s Voice Quartet from Bristow, Okla.

The festival saw more than 1,000 people over the three day event, which is awesome, said Stirling French, an organizer.

“The more people, the better.”

French noted the festival provides those in attendance with a great time of fellowship.

“It’s a testimony to Christ for us.”

The musicians are brought in from all over, with French noting that they do not allow them to perform year after year, instead opting to wait two or three years in between, to allow new musicians to have a chance and to keep the interest up among the audience.

In addition to the music there were a number of other events happening throughout the weekend including pancake breakfasts, bonfire sing-alongs, and a silent auction.

A number of locals stepped up with donations for the silent auction, which is nice, said French.

“People figure it’s a pretty good community event and a good outreach and everybody really supports it well.”

While there is a silent auction French notes the festival does not make any money, noting all of the events are free, and says they are only looking to help offset their costs.

A number of volunteers also stepped up to help make the festival a success, which was great to see, said French.

“We couldn’t work without them. We have to have volunteers.”

With the festival now over for another year French says they will take a small break before getting ready to start planning next year’s festival, which will run July 6-8.
