Strength, balance and skill on the beams, bars and mats made for an exciting Thursday evening last week at Ratushniak Elementary School. The Maidstone Gymnastics Club held their year-end presentation amazing a large crowd with what they had learned. This year 45 students from 4-15 years of age worked with coaches Eila and Sylivia Miller every Thursday after school.

Students showed off their talents beginning with a high energy circuit with springboards and mats. The youngest students jumped up landing on blocks and the oldest students demonstrated flips. Each age group had a chance to perform a floor routine set to music and each student chose either to do a short sequence on the beam or the bars.

The coaches were kept busy switching the heights of the bars and moving them from parallel to uneven. The performance was quick and exciting as the students followed directions and moved from activity to activity. There were lots of smiles and a few gasps as something challenging was attempted and triumphed over.

Volunteers and coaches were thanked for their time and the work of the students was recognized with progress reports and Cangym badges.
