A meeting has been set for Sept. 19 on the subject of the rates for the soon-to-be-completed BTC Field House.

The meeting is to be held at 7:30 p.m. that evening in room 108, Don Ross Centre. It will go over the proposed rates, scheduling and answer questions the groups may have.

Parks and recreation director Keith Anderson said those groups interested in renting a gymnasium-type or soccer pitch are being targeted for the meeting, with Anderson saying the purpose was for those groups to get an idea of what the costs would be to those organizations and get an idea on the scheduling process.

User groups have been invited to attend the meeting. Also invited to the meeting is city council including Mayor Ian Hamilton, and the public is welcome to attend as well.

Also, it has been decided there will be a common rate for residents and non-residents alike. In an Aug. 20 city memo from facilities general manager Bill Samborski, it was indicated that communities that eliminated the two-tiered rate structure for residents and non-residents ended up seeing an increase in out-of-town rental revenue.
