MELFORT — A well-established Melfort business is moving out to Stonegate.
Backstage announced that they will be moving from the Melfort Mall to an all-new 17,000 square-foot location in the shopping complex in the south end of the city.
The 40-year-old business said in a media release the world of retail looks different than when they first opened doors in 1981. They said that with their experience working through the pandemic, it was clear to Backstage’s team that it was time to evolve.
“As our customers know, we keep running out of space,” said Randy Sorensen, owner of Backstage. “The needs of our community continue to grow, and we recognize that we have to grow with them. What better way to celebrate the last 40 years than to show everyone our vision for the future.”
With the additional space, Backstage said it plans to further increase its focus on furniture and appliances, grow its apparel, footwear and recreation offerings, and provide a cutting-edge experience for personal and home electronics. It will continue to be a SaskTel Authorized Dealer and Apple Authorized Service Provider.
“Bringing our entire business under one large roof will help us better serve our customers across the Northeast, and allow us to expand our selection and stock availability throughout all parts of the store,” Sorensen said.
Construction is expected to start later in 2021 and open to the public in fall 2022.
