Moose shot and left near Crystal Springs

Conservation officers were able to collect some evidence at the scene of an illegal shooting of a young bull moose but need the public’s assistance in helping identify who may be responsible.

MELFORT — A young bull moose was shot and left to waste in the Crystal Springs area sometime between the evenings of Friday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 16, according to Melfort conservation officers.

The Ministry of Corrections, Policing and Public Safety - Conservation Officers has issued an alert about the moose that was located in a field three miles east and one mile north of Crystal Springs, or approximately 6.5 kilometres southwest of Struthers Lake Regional Park following a TIPP call.

Officials say evidence showed a vehicle had driven up to and away from the poached animal.

Conservation officers were able to collect some evidence at the scene but need the public’s assistance in helping identify who may be responsible.
