With summer trying to show itself at times this spring, Naicam did its part to kickstart summer with the Spring into Summer event.
The May 26th event’s fun for the whole family included a car show, home-based business show, town wide garage sales, a barbecue lunch, and car bingo.
The car show made its first appearance at this year’s event. Organizer Kyle Crook noted he
felt the addition would be a good fit with the existing activities.
“Everybody’s been really good, everything has complimented each other. We’ve all tried to work together, all the different organizations today and we really pulled together and made things, I think, a really spectacular day.”
The car show featured 56 vehicles, ranging in age from a 1931 Ford, to a 2014 Dodge Challenger, which Crook says was great for a first time show.
Not only was there a range in age, but there was a great deal of diversity in the vehicles as well, Crook said, including survival vehicles, complete frame off restorations, as well as some lawn mowers.
That diversity showcases the opportunities people have with vehicles, Crook said.
“It gives everybody an opportunity to see what can happen. A little bit of determination and a whole lot of ‘I just want to try it.’”
Overall, Crook was pleased with how the day went.
“None of this could have happened without the support of the whole community. Everybody came together right from kids to the seniors, everybody in between, it’s been phenomenal.”
Crook said the car show will be back next year, adding that organizers are looking at ways to improve the event.
“There’s a lot more stuff coming down the pipe and it’s just going to get bigger and better from here on in as far as I’m concerned… Next year we’d like to build on the events and kind of make it a whole day thing, get the whole community involved.”
