Those who just can't get enough of North Battleford's architecture now have another way to view the city's buildings - on the Internet.

Those who just can't get enough of North Battleford's architecture now have another way to view the city's buildings - on the Internet.

While North Battleford is now completely mapped on Google Earth, four buildings can now be viewed in three dimensions. Buildings were modeled by the Architectural Heritage Society of Saskatchewan, though geo-modellers from Ontario, Newfoundland and Australia have helped.

Of the four models created, three are in North Battleford: the RBC building, 1112 - 101st St. (the former location of the Longhorn Steakhouse) and the Canadian Cancer Society building at 1141 -101st St. In Battleford, only Town Hall has been modeled.

Entire cities have been modeled, however, including substantial portions of Edmonton, so it is just a matter of time before the Battlefords are modeled entirely in 3d.

An article on the Model Saskatchewan Project will appear in the spring edition of Worth Magazine. Anyone interested in modeling for the Model Saskatchewan Project can contact the project coordinator, Gregg Babish, at [email protected]. To view all the buildings modeled by the Model Saskatchewan Project, search for the Architectural Heritage Society of Saskatchewan under "Collections" at http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/.
