The City of North Battleford has announced that Jennifer Niesink has been hired as its new Director of Business Development.
She has been Executive Director of the Battlefords Immigration Resource Centre for the past three years. Niesink officially moves over to her new role on Nov. 1 and fills a position vacant since summer.
Her experience includes project/contract management, staff recruitment and retention, and organizational development.
Niesink should have some idea of her new role, having worked closely in the past on projects with the city's previous director of business development Denis Lavertu.
She and Lavertu both went to Toronto for the National Job Fair there in September 2011 in a recruitment drive. This summer Lavertu joined Ironjet Media as its vice-president of marketing and development.
Niesink has also been very active with A Taste of Culture in the city.
City manager Jim Toye said in a statement Wednesday that Niesink's wealth of experience is an asset she brings to the new role.
"Jennifer has a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours). She has a keen interest in the City of North Battleford and has many innovative ideas on local business retention and recruitment."
