NIPAWIN— Traffic through the new bridge in Nipawin will have some delay, as a new coat of paint is being installed to protect the platform.

The work will begin on April 13.

“It’s similar to putting paint on a car to protect it from rust,” said Kevin Paul, managing leader under Stantec, who was hired to perform the job.

“There is a paint already on the steel, and basically, at certain areas it has been exposed to the elements a little more as some other areas— so it needs to be touched up or a new application of paint put on it.”

Expected traffic impacts include one lane operations at 30 kilometers per hour when entering the bridge, temporary traffic lights or flaggers will be in place to guide the traffic, and traffic will be stopped temporarily at some instance to let in equipment as needed.

Stops are expected to be less than 20 minutes.
