Seven months after town council initially directed the administration to issue a tender for a new half-ton fire truck, council has accepted a tender from Nipawin Chrysler Dodge.
The 2017 half-ton truck will cost $40,333 plus tax. An additional $5,000 will be spent on specialized equipment for the vehicle.
A member of the public forum, David Peterson, commented on the purchase at the Jan. 9 council meeting.
“I’m concerned who is going to be driving it, I guess. If the guy that looked after the last fire truck looks after this one the same way, I’m really, really concerned,” said Peterson.
