NIPAWIN — Unvaccinated individuals who attended the Sept. 10 Nipawin Hawks game are required to self-isolate until Sept. 24 and seek testing for COVID-19 immediately.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) gave the warning on Sept. 16, after a person attended the Hawks game while infectious.
As per Disease Control Regulations, all individuals in attendance during the game must immediately self-isolate and remain in isolation until Sept. 24 as well seek testing for COVID-19 immediately, and again on Sept. 20.
There is an exception for individuals who received two doses of COVID-19 vaccine, and the second dose was received prior to Aug. 27, who are asked instead to self-monitor for symptoms until Sept. 24. If symptoms develop, they are required to start self-isolating immediately and seek testing.
Self-isolation means they are required to stay home, avoid contact with anyone who is not fully vaccinated, and stay away from work, school, stores, social events and any other public setting. Individuals who are considered fully vaccinated have received two doses of vaccine and are at least two weeks past their second dose.
Saskatchewan residents are asked to call HealthLine 811, their physician or nurse practitioner if they develop symptoms. Individuals may develop symptoms from two to 14 days following exposure to the virus that causes COVID-19.
Symptoms include fever, cough, headache, muscle and/or joint aches and pains, sore throat, chills, runny nose, nasal congestion, conjunctivitis, dizziness, fatigue, nausea/vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite (difficulty feeding for children), loss of sense of taste or smell, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing.
The SHA is strongly encouraging all Saskatchewan residents 12 years of age and older to be immunized with both doses.
