A Nipawin grocery store will be going through renovations this fall.
“The Extra Foods store in Nipawin will be closing in the fall for renovations and will reopen as a No Frills store before the end of the year,” said an email written on behalf of Tammy Smitham, Loblaws vice-president of external communication.
The two chains are both owned by Loblaws. The company has been converting some of its Extra Food stores into No Frills stores since 2008.
“This will be the fifth No Frills store to open in Saskatchewan since the first No Frills opened the province in 2010,” said the Smitham email. “The store will also continue to provide residents with the No Name and President’s Choice products they enjoy.”
The pharmacy will see no changes and will be open during the renovation during its regular hours.
The company said that most of the employees will continue to work at the store when it re-opens as a No Frills.
When the conversion was closer to being complete, Loblaws said it would share more information.
Melfort recently saw its Extra Foods converted into an Independent, another Loblaws chain, in 2016.
