HUMBOLDT — A chance for the public to highlight local businesses that go above and beyond has returned.
Nominations for the Humboldt and District Chamber of Commerce’s Mark of Excellence are open. The deadline for nominations is Friday, Jan. 21.
“I think it's really important that businesses that do their jobs very well need to be recognized for those efforts,” said Brent Fitzpatrick, the chamber’s executive director.
“That's what the Mark of Excellence does. It's a really easy way for businesses and for people to recognize those friends and neighbours that have done a great job at their business in the last year.”
Fitzpatrick said he’s seen many of the award recipients display them in a prominent public place at their businesses.
“That's why we do the awards. People need to know that this is a company that really goes above and beyond.”
There are 10 categories to nominate businesses this year, including New Business Venture, Entrepreneur of the Year, Youth Involvement and Community Involvement. The chamber is also looking for nominees for the Business Hall of Fame.
Fitzpatrick emphasized how simple it is to make a nomination. The form, which is a single page, can be downloaded at the chamber’s website (warning: .pdf) or otherwise obtained by contacting the chamber’s office. For those businesses that are nominated, the process has been streamlined so it’s less onerous for the business owner to fill out.
“Once those nominations are in, we assemble them all and we send them off to our sister chamber in North Battleford, who then has a committee that goes through them.”
The awards will take place on Wednesday, March 30, 2022
