SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan (USask) is hosting Giving Day on Tuesday, Sept. 10, a one-day event to celebrate philanthropy and raise funds for the four pillars of its Be What the World Needs campaign set to wrap up in the spring of 2025.
“Giving Day is the perfect opportunity to demonstrate the collective impact our USask community can have. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help take us across the campaign finish line and advance our vision to be the university the world needs,” said Peter Stoicheff, USask president and vice-chancellor.
All gifts made on Giving Day will have the opportunity to be matched thanks to the generosity of Scott and Grit McCreath, Greg and Rae Smith, Cheryl Hamelin, and the Engineering Advancement Trust (EAT).
University of Saskatchewan Students’ Union President Krunal Chavda is proud to be an ambassador for Giving Day this year, noting that donor support can often make the difference when students face financial constraints that prevent them from focusing on their studies.
“Support on Giving Day not only builds student confidence as we prepare to become the next generation of leaders, but it can often make all the difference when students encounter financial burdens that distract them from pursuing their academic goals,” he said.
President Stoicheff and other senior leaders will kick off USask Giving Day with a short program in Upper Place Riel beginning at 8:30 am, followed by live-on-location radio interviews from 9am – 5pm, as well as giveaways, and prize draws.
