While one incumbent Living Sky School Division board member was not reelected when voters turned out last week, there are no new faces at the board table.

Roy Challis, one of four candidates looking to fill three seats representing North Battleford, is off the board after 15 years and former board member Richard Hiebert, who joined the board in a 2008 by-election, subsequently losing out in the 2009 election, has been returned.

On Oct. 24, school board elections were held in conjunction with municipal elections across Saskatchewan. Most members of the Living Sky School Division board were returned by acclamation, however there were elections held for the City of North Battleford and Subdivision 6 (Kerrobert/Luseland/Major/Lakeview Colony).

Elected for the subdivision of the City of North Battleford were Glenn Wouters, incumbent, Garth Link, incumbent, and Hiebert, former member.

Jack Snell, incumbent, was elected in Subdivision 6 over candidate Bernadette Heintz of Handel,

In the remaining subdivisions all candidates were acclaimed: Ken Arsenault (Spiritwood, Medstead, Leoville); Ron Kowalchuk (Hafford, Maymont); Todd Miller (Wilkie, Cando, Scott Colony); Ronna Pethick (Cut Knife, Unity, Hillsvale Colony); Kim Gartner (Macklin) and; Bob Foreman (Town of Battleford).

The new board of education will hold its organizational meeting Wednesday, Nov. 7.

The Living Sky School Division Board of Education consists of 10 members representing 25,600 voters, 31 schools, and 5,700 students.
