PRINCE ALBERT –The Prince Albert Senator Allen Bird Memorial Centre was destroyed by fire Friday and police are now investigating.
Prince Albert Fire Department say they responded to the centre in the 2300 Block of 9th Avenue West for a report of a fire at 8:26 a.m. on April 15. When firefighters arrived the east side of the building was engulfed in flames. Two aerial trucks and two engines conducted a defensive attack on the fire.
Crews remained on scene until the evening to extinguish the fire and hot spots.
The fire department said there were no injuries and the fire didn’t spread to any other structures or property.
The Prince Albert Police Service and Prince Albert Fire Department are investigating the cause of the fire.
Police ask that witnesses who were in this area between 8 a.m. and 8:40 a.m. Friday, who may have information about this fire, are asked to contact police at 306-953-4222 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
Anyone who lives in the nearby area who has surveillance is also asked to check their video cameras for any suspicious activity.
