P.A. police seek public assistance in homicide investigation

PRINCE ALBERT — Update: The Prince Albert Police Service continues to investigate the city’s second homicide of 2024.

The 41-year-old victim has been identified as Norman Wenzel.

An autopsy was completed Tuesday, July 2, and investigators with the Criminal Investigations Division Major Crimes and Forensic Identification Section continue to investigate. No arrests have been made at this time.

Investigators continue to ask anyone who lives in the area of the 100-800 Block of 15th Avenue East and McIntosh Drive from 1st Street East to 15th Avenue East to check their video surveillance from midnight to 2 a.m. on July 1. Original post: Police are asking people to check their surveillance video after a homicide early Canada Day morning.

On July 1, at 1:15 a.m., the Prince Albert Police Service and Parkland Ambulance responded to a residence on Kemp Crescent for a complaint of a disturbance. Police located a 41-year-old male suffering from severe injuries. The male was transported to the Victoria Hospital by Parkland Ambulance where he succumbed to his injuries. An autopsy is scheduled for July 2, 2024.

Police have not made any arrests at this time.

Further updates will be provided as members of the Criminal Investigations Division, the Forensic Identification Section and the Coroner’s Office continue to investigate.
