Erin Hill of Medstead recently returned from an exciting trip to Los Angeles, Calif. where she competed in the 16th annual World Championships of Performing Arts.
Performing artists from all over the world travel to Los Angeles every July to compete. In all approximately 40 countries were represented with a total of around 1,000 competitors.
Erin and her parents arrived in Los Angeles July 3. After a couple of days of touring and sunbathing, the work began.
On July 6, Erin took part in the Worldstars "bootcamp," an intensive training program for performing artists. Erin was lucky enough to receive instruction from several performing arts teachers, including Seth Riggs, who is considered to be the best voice teacher in the world. His past students have included Michael Jackson, Stevie Wonder, Madonna and Tina Turner, to name a few.
July 9, the competition began with Erin taking part in modelling, acting and singing. At week's end Erin had earned herself three awards as well as the honour of being one of seven female models chosen to take part in the final show.
Erin's awards included a silver for her country music performance, a bronze for original work and an industry award.
