The infamous "Pigeon Hotel" property on 11th Avenue and 102nd Street came up for discussion at city council Monday.

The building had gained notoriety in recent years for its pigeon infestations before investors Chris Dobson and Larissa Wack, with Ironjet Developments of Lloydminster, bought the property from the city last fall.

The new owners pledged to clean up and rehabilitate the abandoned property, and work has already been underway at the site.

However, Councillor Ryan Bater expressed concern about news reports that interior and exterior work may not be completed in time for an Aug. 31 deadline as per the city's sale agreement. Reports are the work may not be finished there until next year.

"My concern is that we're looking at a breach of the agreement for sale because I don't see any indication this will be completed by Aug. 31," said Bater.

His request is being passed along to city administration to look into that issue. City manager Jim Toye was not at the meeting.

Bater further said he wanted to make clear the project was "exciting" and he was "glad the investment is being made in our downtown."

"I just want to make sure we're not breaching our own agreement for sale," said Bater.
