Residents of the Battlefords and surrounding rural areas have been left in the dark, experiencing power outages intermittently for the last week.

After Monday's storm and Tuesday's imitation, the situation seems to be worsening as frustration builds among residents who report long periods of time without power, an unresolved and, rather irritating, inconvenience.

"This all relates to the weather," said James Parker, SaskPower media relations. "We hope the situation stabilizes fairly quickly."

According to Parker, 36 communities and nearby customers have experienced outages as a result of storms, adding that they are currently troubleshooting and attempting to remedy the situation. That will require fixing poles, replacing cross arms and removing trees from lines.

"We're asking for people's patience, because we know there's been a number of interruptions. There's been a number of communities affected by outages but the weather had just been wicked and we're going full boar addressing these problems."
