Prisoner escapes police custody from courthouse

Keith McCallum escaped and fled on foot at about 6:30 p.m. on May 4 when he was being escorted from the courthouse to a parked police vehicle

Update: Deschambault Lake RCMP located and arrested Keith McCallum on May 12, 2022.

DESCHAMBAULT LAKE – Police are searching for a 22-year-old man who escaped from police custody.

Deschambault Lake RCMP say that Keith McCallum escaped and fled on foot at about 6:30 p.m. on May 4 when he was being escorted to a parked police vehicle. McCallum was in court to address numerous charges including theft of motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, break and enter, and failing to comply with release conditions.

McCallum has been additionally charged with one count of escaping lawful custody and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. Deschambault Lake RCMP are actively working to find and arrest him and are now asking the public for assistance in locating him.

McCallum is described as approximately 5-foot-8 and 140 pounds. He has black chin-length hair often pulled back in a ponytail and brown eyes. McCallum is known to frequent the community of Pelican Narrows.
