RCMP in Colonsay continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the disappearance of Victor Mateyshin, an 84-year-old man from the
community of Bruno.
Police are asking rural land owners from Wakaw to Humboldt, and specifically the Dana and Bruno areas, to check their local property including abandoned areas, trails, bluffs of trees and any other areas that might not be visible from the road for Mateyshin or his vehicle.
RCMP Air Services out of Regina are now actively involved in the search for Mateyshin. The aerial search will attempt to follow his last known path of travel, which was believed to on the Bremen Grid Road, north of Dana. The weather conditions for this aerial search are excellent today as is the forecast for the weekend.
Mateyshin was reported to be in good health with no known illnesses and this disappearance is extremely out of character for him. Many members of his family as well as his friends are actively looking for him and these efforts have mobilized the local community in Bruno. A local pilot who knows Mateyshin will be flying his own plane today in hopes of locating the vehicle and/or Mateyshin.
Understandably, the family is devastated regarding the disappearance of their loved one and are appealing to members of the public, through the media, to broadcast any information that may assist in locating his whereabouts, RCMP say.
He is described as: Caucasian, 5'9", 180 lb, blue eyes, grey hair, glasses, clean shaven. Last seen wearing a tan jacket with blue jeans.
The vehicle is described as a 2005 white Ford Crown Victoria four-door car. The body style is the same as a police vehicle. The licence plate is Saskatchewan 432HJQ.
