PELICAN NARROWS — RCMP in Pelican Narrows have arrested a man who was wanted on several warrants and was considered to be armed and dangerous.

Police arrested 25-year-old Roger Wesley Custer June 2 without incident in Pelican Narrows. Custer made his first court appearance June 3 in Prince Albert Provincial Court, via video link from Pelican Narrows.

Custer had several warrants out for his arrest for offenses committed in northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan, including for assault with a weapon, robbery, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, failure to comply with probation orders and mischief under $5,000.

RCMP issued a statement earlier in the week that Custer was spotted in Pelican Narrows May 31. Officers were able to locate Custer and tried to stop and arrest him, but Custer was able to run away. RCMP said Custer may have been armed and seeking a way to travel from Pelican Narrows, also adding that he had attempted to gain entry to a house and failed.

Police considered Custer to be armed and dangerous and advised the public to not approach him if spotted.

Custer has ties to Flin Flon and Denare Beach. Custer is known to authorities in both communities and has been arrested for violent offenses in Flin Flon several times in the past. Custer is also listed by Manitoba RCMP as one of "Manitoba's most wanted" and has been listed as such since at least December 2021.
