Alberta RCMP responded to a report of multiple people walking with a firearm on 39 Street on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster on July 11.
Police immediately contained the area and located two young offenders from Onion Lake Cree Nation who can’t be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
RCMP say that when they searched the youth they found methamphetamine and several weapons.
The 17-year-old was held in the Lloydminster RCMP cells until he appeared in court the next morning. He was released from custody on bail with conditions.
He is charged with three counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, carrying a concealed weapon, three counts of possession of a prohibited weapon, and two counts of possession of a firearm without being a holder of a license.
He is scheduled to appear in Lloydminster Saskatchewan Provincial Court on July 26.
Lloydminster borders the provinces of Alberta and Saskatchewan. The RCMP detachment is on the Alberta side of the city. There are two courthouses in Lloydminster, one on the Alberta side and one on the Saskatchewan side.
