Exactly a year after introducing Stuart York as director of Parks and Recreation, the City of North Battleford has shown York the door.

Although Mike Halstead, communications co-ordinator for the City, confirmed the rumours of York's departure are true, he said, "It's a personnel issue that the City won't discuss any further."

The Regional-Optimist has been told no press release will be issued and York has also declined to comment.

York assumed the position after Alan Parkin, who was hired in December, 2008, moved on to other opportunities.

York, who has family connections to the community, relocated to the Battlefords from Lethbridge, and had previously worked in parks and recreation capacities in several communities in Alberta and British Columbia.
