SASKATOON — The Saskatoon Fire Department responded to a multi-unit residential fire in the 1000 block of Idylwyld Drive North on Monday, July 15. Dispatch received the call at 5:06 a.m.

SFD firefighters arrived quickly due to its proximity to Station 1. Upon arrival, the fire crew saw smoke coming from the structure.

The incident commander assigned tactical duties with crews advancing multiple hose lines into the building to begin extinguishing the fire.

Another crew entered the building to determine whether there were still occupants inside. Their search confirmed that all occupants had been safely evacuated.

The fire was extinguished and no injuries to fire crews or civilians were reported.

Fire crews then set up large fans to ventilate the building. This is always done to remove any lingering smoke and toxins from the building.

A fire investigator is on the scene to conduct an examination to identify the cause, origin and damage estimate.
