SASKATOON — Saskatoon firefighters battled and successfully contained a structure fire in the 1800 block of Avenue D North on Tuesday, July 23. The dispatcher received the report at 8:20 a.m.

The first arriving crews of the Saskatoon Fire Department saw smoke and flames coming out of one of the duplex's front basement windows.

The Incident Commander assigned tactical duties with crews advancing hose lines to combat the seat of the fire. Another crew searched to confirm no remaining occupants were inside.

All house occupants evacuated safely while firefighters quickly controlled the blaze. Fire crews completely extinguished the blaze and no injuries were reported by other civilians or responding firefighters.

Once the house was ventilated and secured, a fire investigator took over the scene. The investigator will identify the cause and origin of the fire and estimate the damage.
