SASKATOON - It was an unsettling day in Saskatoon when a man caught people's attention by swinging a large, metal pole at passersby and vehicles.

At about 2:30 p.m. on Sept. 11, police were called to the area of 20th Street West and Avenue I South. Witnesses reported seeing a man armed with a large pole, striking vehicles and swinging at passersby.

No one was injured during the incident.

Upon arrival, police located the suspect, still in possession of the pole, in the 300 block of Avenue I South.

The 31-year-old Saskatoon man was taken into custody and found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant. He is now facing an additional charge of possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace.
