Three individuals charged in connection to a weekend shooting in North Battleford have made their first appearance in provincial court.
Charged are Valen Nicotine, Justin Fineday, and also a third individual who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act. The three were arrested following the shooting of a young man that took place on the morning of Sept. 1 in North Battleford.
All three appeared before Judge Lorna Dyck Tuesday morning. They are charged with use of a firearm in the commission of an aggravated assault, pointing a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of stolen property, possession of a prohibited weapon in a motor vehicle, carrying a concealed weapon an committing and indictable offence with face disguised or masked.
Their charges have been adjourned to Sept. 18 at 9:30 a.m., where they are due to appear again in North Battleford Provincial Court.
The shooting took place in the St. Laurent, Diefenbaker Drive area in North Battleford. The victim, described by RCMP as being in his early 20s, was transported to Battlefords Union Hospital and ultimately to Saskatoon for treatment. There has not been an update on his condition.
