The Best of the Battlefords Photo Contest is back.

More than 200 entries were received last year and many have been showcased on City of North Batlleford and Battlefords Tourism websites and various publications over the past year.

The City Battlefords Tourism are inviting shutterbugs of all ages and skill levels to enter the contest for a chance to win hundreds of dollars worth of prizes in four different categories.

"We had a great response last year with photographers keeping the 'Best of the Battlefords' theme in mind and we wanted to give everyone another opportunity," said Diana Tucker, Battlefords tourism development officer. "We have narrowed it down from eight to four categories and the photographer can choose the one that best suits their photograph - Battlefords vacation, events, urban life and sports and recreation."

Entry forms along with categories, rules and regulations are available on the Battlefords Tourism website (www.battlefordstourism.com) and on the City of North Battleford website (www.cityofnb.ca).

"We could easily use stock photos or go out and snap our own photographs for use on our websites and publications, but this gives the community a chance to get creative and show us what they think is great about the Battlefords," said Mike Halstead, marketing and communications co-ordinator, City of North Battleford.

"The photos make our promotional items look polished and of course, local."

The contest runs from May 2 until Aug. 12. Winners from each category will receive a prize valued at $100. Bannerman Photo is sponsoring the best overall prize, valued at $250.
