SASKATOON - The School Resource Unit is investigating after bear spray was discharged inside a school yesterday.

Shortly before 11:30 a.m. on Oct. 3, police responded to a school in the 2200 block of Rusholme Road for a report of bear spray being discharged in the hallway.

Upon arrival, officers learned that a physical altercation had occurred between two 17-year-old students before one of them produced and discharged a can of bear spray in the direction of the other. Both students initially fled the area; however, the victim of the bear spraying later returned.

Medavie Health Services West and the Saskatoon Fire Department attended to the school to assist anyone experiencing the effects of bear spray. The school was later evacuated to allow for it to be ventilated.

The suspect has not been located; however, a School Resource Officer is continuing to investigate.
